“How do I know it’s not fear or just what I want to hear?”
Perfectly good questions with a simple and easy answer. Your brain, your ego, your fear wants to have a conversation with you. They want to protect you in ways that tend to keep you small and safe in a limiting way. Fear and ego sound like “what if I fail” or “I might get hurt” or “it can’t be your fault.” The brain says, “this thought or emotion might come off as weird so I better rationalize it, tamp it down, make others comfortable with me.”
Intuition is always positive. Always in your best interest. Intuition is consistently in your corner. It never wants to keep you small and it always encourages you toward what you most need even if it doesn’t feel like it at the time. How often has someone referred to an illness or other upsetting event as a blessing in hindsight?
With intuition, there isn’t much of a conversation. Your intuition will come through as “Go left.” “Stop.” “Run.” “Try it.” “You are good.” “Now.” Sometimes messages come as words. Sometimes they come as strong hunches or feelings to go in a specific direction or to hold your ground.
Your intuition does not sound like your mother’s voice unless it is unconditionally loving. It doesn’t sound like your third grade teacher unless they were the most positive influence on your life and you have assigned it that voice. Sometimes, our intuition validates us in a very physical way like when you feel unexplained strong or maybe even hear or feel a “click.” That happens to me a lot. Click. Alignment.
The fear-based thinking holds us back. Fear is a perfectly good emotion to alert us to certain situations, but it rarely gets us out of a mess. (See my earlier blog, Stop. Breathe. Know.) Too often, though, fear comes from a place of borrowing concerns about what might happen. In those moments, you are actively manifesting your fears. Thoughts are the most powerful energy of all so keep your thoughts solution focused on real things that are happening now. Allow your intuition to be your most pure guide as it exists solely to serve you.
